"Kayaan for Persons with Disabilities in Asyut launches its new project aimed at employing girls."

The Asyut branch of Kayaan Association for Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Asyut Media Center, organized an introductory seminar to announce the launch of the project aimed at employing girls as part of the Mother and Child Health Care initiative. This project is implemented by the association in cooperation with the Social Development Fund and is funded by the European Union.

The seminar was attended by Rami Abdullah, Director of the Regional Office of the Social Development Fund in Asyut; Dr. Ahmed Anwar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Asyut; Mustafa Abu Ghadir, Advisor to the Governor of Asyut for Civil Work; Dr. Ayman Al-Tantawy, Executive Director of Kayaan Association; and a group of civil and executive leaders in Asyut.

In his speech, Dr. Ayman Al-Tantawy, Executive Director of Kayaan Association, stated that the implementation of the project for employing girls within the Mother and Child Health Care initiative aligns with Kayaan's strategy to focus on the most vulnerable community segments and open broader opportunities in employment fields.

Al-Tantawy pointed out that Kayaan previously launched the "Better Life" project for persons with disabilities in Upper Egypt by establishing four branches of the association in Asyut, Sohag, Minya, and Beni Suef, all of which focus on the rehabilitation and care of persons with disabilities as well as raising community awareness about disability issues in rural areas of Upper Egypt.

Rami Abdullah, Director of the Regional Office of the Social Development Fund in Asyut, confirmed that the fund is launching the project for employing girls as part of the Mother and Child Health Care initiative, which is one of the core projects adopted in its operational plans for Upper Egypt. He highlighted that the fund has successfully collaborated with 91 civil society organizations to create 25,600 job opportunities in Asyut, with a total cost of 122 million EGP, in projects related to the environment, maternal and child health, employment, literacy, daycare centers, and initiatives for better health.

Dr. Ahmed Anwar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Asyut, emphasized the importance of collaboration with serious civil society organizations, especially when it comes to public health activities focused on prevention, which have a significant impact on improving overall health, particularly in impoverished communities. He stated that the Health Directorate in Asyut provides all possible facilities for civil associations to succeed in their efforts and to support the execution system.

In her speech, Maha Bakheet, Director of the Kayaan branch in Asyut, outlined the objectives of the project for employing girls in family and child health care, emphasizing that the project aims to create job opportunities for girls through awareness programs and home visits to enhance access to maternal and child health services.

She confirmed that the project will be implemented in the villages of Minqabad, Salam, Al-Adar, Buhayij, Bani Hussein, Masr Al-Aali, and Awlad Rayiq in Asyut, and it will provide job opportunities for 55 technicians, including supervisors and guides, along with five administrative positions. The project aims to improve the health of 6,000 rural families within the targeted villages.
