Prosthetic devices are essential tools and assistance for people with disabilities to compensate for their defects and disabilities. They help them improve their lives, integrate into society, and achieve ease of movement and self-reliance.
Prosthetic devices mean a lot to the lives of people with disabilities.
Devices for people with motor disabilities: (wheelchair - prosthetic device - walker - chair for children with cerebral palsy - splints)
Estimated cost of the device (10.000- 15.000 Egyptian pounds)
Prosthetic devices for people with hearing disabilities: medical hearing aids (7.000- 10.000 pounds)
Devices for people with visual disabilities: white cane - medical glasses - Braille prints (10.000- 15.000 Egyptian pounds)
Sponsor a small project.
The family of a disabled child suffers from accumulated and increasing burdens in addition to their primary burdens, especially in poor governorates, where treatment and rehabilitation services for their children are scarce, which prompts them to isolate the children, deny their existence, and neglect their treatment and care.
The child's family needs psychological and material support and assistance and needs to provide a permanent source of income to help them bear the costs of caring for the child and bringing him to safety.
Sponsor a project for the family = provide a small project that generates a fixed income to support the expenses of rehabilitating the disabled child and help the family bear life's difficulties.
Sponsor a rehabilitation unit.
According to studies by the World Health Organization, local rehabilitation units within poor villages are the best way to intervene and provide decent life and primary services to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
The meaning of the local rehabilitation unit is a simple unit established with the villagers' participation and the village's community development units. The Kayan Association trains and supervises girls from the town to provide simple primary services (early intervention) for children in the city. In addition, it raises awareness and trains mothers of children with disabilities in the town and raises awareness among the local community about the rights of their children with disabilities.
Advantages of this strategy to solve the problem of disability:
The local community's low cost and participation ensure the continuity of work with it, as the community feels its ownership of the program and contributes to changing its attitudes toward disability.
Saving many expenses related to transportation and training specialists
Direct awareness within the community
Integrating people with disabilities into society and not isolating them in private institutions
Cost of the community-based rehabilitation unit = 50,000 (fifty thousand Egyptian pounds).
